LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif has said the recent increase in petroleum prices has added to the problems of the people. In a statement issued here on Tuesday, he said this decision of the government reflected failure of its economic policies in providing relief to the poor. He said at a time when the petroleum prices were showing a downward trend in the international market, increase in the petroleum prices by the government was unjustified. He said the government had not taken parliament or opposition, including the PML-N, into confidence in this regard. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif further said the annual losses of the state-owned institutions like PIA, Steel Mills, railways and Pepco had drastically increased and it seemed that the government was adding to the miseries of the poor to make up these losses.
