Nawaz for US role in Pakistan-India talks
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif has urged the United States to use its influence for resumption of meaningful, comprehensive and result-oriented talks between Pakistan and India.
He expressed these views at a meeting with the US special envoy for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke, who called on the PML-N chief at Punjab House on Thursday.
Nawaz stressed that the composite dialogue process stalled after 26/11 Mumbai attacks between two neighborly countries should be back on track instead of just one meeting.
According to a statement issued from Punjab House, Nawaz Sharif said that peace could not be established in the region without solution of the Kashmir dispute in line with the UN plebiscite and according to aspirations of Kashmiri people.
About the water dispute, he said that India should refrain from triggering yet another crisis between the two countries.
The PML-N chief also raised the issue of Dr. Aafia Siddiqi’s detention with US envoy and demanded her immediate release.
