PML (N) Chief meets Chinese Vice-Foreign Minister, Chairman China Mobile
BEIJING, Jan 14 (APP): Chief of Pakistan Muslim League (N) and former prime minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif held meetings with Chinese vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei and Chairman of the Board of China Mobile here Thursday.Mr. Wu received the PML (N) chief in the absence abroad of Chinese Foreign minister who is on official visits to a number of African countries.
Warmly welcoming Nawaz Sharif Wu Dawei remarked that China considers him as a trusted friend who has made important personal contribution to the growth and development of their bilateral ties.
He specifically referred to a number of important agreements that were signed between the two countries during his term in the office. Nawaz Sharif and Wu also exchanged views on further initiatives to strengthen bilateral cooperation and understanding between the two countries, especially in view of the rapidly changing regional and global environment.
Both sides emphasized the importance of the economic development along with efforts to strengthen domestic stability and national defence.The Chinese Vice-Foreign Minister assured the former prime minister that Chinese leadership strongly believe in non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries and wished that other powers would also pursue similar policies.
Mr. Wu noted that China has been and will continue to uphold Pakistan’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.He also expressed tanks to Mr. Nawaz Sharif for his expression of strong support on the issue of Taiwan and Tibet as well as his condemnation of any effort to disturb peace and social stability in Xinjiang region.
Mr. Nawaz Sharif spoke of his strong attachment to the relations with China which he viewed is not only as Pakistan’s strong and consistent friend but also a critical ally that had always supported his country in time of need.He also recalled that as a prime minister he had always benefitted from the wise consul and advises from the Chinese leaders.
Nawaz Sharif said that despite political changes in Pakistan, the government and people remained strong supporter and friends of China.
Earlier, Mr. Nawaz Sharif held meeting with the Chairman of the Board of China Mobile.
China Mobile is a largest cellular company in the world having over 500 million subscribers.
Nawaz Sharif urged Chairman China Mobile, to encourage other domestic enterprises to join hands in investing in other critical economic development projects, particular in power and energy sectors in Pakistan.
In a briefing Nawaz Sharif was informed about company’s operations and told that China Mobile has been working in Pakistan for the last many years.
He pointed out that there was vast potential in Pakistan.
