No threat to democracy, says Nawaz
BEJING: Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Nawaz Sharif said Wednesday that democracy was not facing any threat from the Army.
Speaking to Chinese media during his visit to Beijing, he said that the government should be given the opportunity to function despite all the apprehensions.
“We will not become a party in any bid aimed at destabilizing the government,” he underlined.
The former premier said that most of the issues would be resolved if supremacy of the law and constitution prevailed in the country.
To a question about ties with India, he said that there were several issues, which needed to be solved between two neighboring countries. “We want to solve all outstanding issues with India,” he said.
The PML-N chief said that Pakistan and India had wasted several billion dollars in arms race during the last 60 years.
