Punjab land sold at throwaway prices

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the people will be rid of Qabza mafias at all costs.
He was speaking at a meeting where Pakistan Muslim League-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif was briefed on various development projects, action against the Qabza mafia and public transport. He said big plazas were constructed illegally in Lahore and other big cities during the previous regime and permission for construction of these illegal plazas was given against political loyalties by usurping peoples’ interests.
Addressing the meeting, Nawaz Sharif said that protection of government lands was responsibility of the government and those purchasing disputed lands deserved no sympathy. He agreed with the argument that grabbed lands had been sold to many persons and their return was a difficult task.
He said that a regular campaign should be launched for retrieving pubic and private lands from the Qabza mafia.
Nawaz said that costly land of Punjab was given to various institutions at throwaway prices through illegal allotments during the Musharraf era. He said that bureaucracy was also involved in irregularities in allotment of these lands. He said the Punjab government should formally make legislation about the allotment of government lands.
