PML-N leadership meets today
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has summoned a meeting of its central command today (Monday) to discuss the country’s political situation in the backdrop of the official release of the list of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) beneficiaries.
Although the PML-N has demanded the resignation of the ministers and government functionaries mentioned in the list, a PML-N leaders said the meeting would decide how and to what extent the party would pressurise the Pakistan People’s Party-led government to sack NRO beneficiaries. “The party will take a decision on whether it will pressurise the government to sack those government functionaries who have taken benefit from the NRO, or if the matter should be left for the judiciary and the PPP central command to decide,” he said, adding that another purpose of the meeting was to decide on how to reorganise the party. The PML-N leader said today’s party meeting would form various provincial, district and local organisations to facilitate the holding of party elections on schedule.
According to sources, PML-N central leaders would also deliberate on the Balochistan package, which the government is going to announce on Tuesday (tomorrow) in a joint sitting of parliament. PML-N Information Secretary Ahsan Iqbal said the meeting would announce various national and provincial organising committees.
